Can he?
This video is unquestionably powerful.
But it still doesn't answer the question. Is Obama the black JFK for our time? Or, is he a more photogenic and charismatic version of Jimmy Carter - high-minded, well-meaning, but ultimately ineffectual?
I wish I knew.
I agree with almost everything LWC says, except for one point - on which Pesky's probably closer to the truth.
It's really obvious that a Billary administration will in fact be a co-presidency, no matter what they do to disguise it, now or later. Can anyone reasonably think that Bill would just fade into the background next January? Hell no. He'll sit in on every meeting. He'll be the senior advisor quoted off-the-record in every article.
Think about it. If you work in the White House and Bill stops by your desk, will you tell him politely that you take orders only from his wife? If you see Bill Clinton on your caller ID, will you just let it go to voice mail? Hell no. Talk about chain-of-command issues. Gawd knows how much consternation and confusion Bill Clinton's going to be at the center of, ifheHillary gets elected.
In Deal or No Deal, the contestant has friends, family, and audience yelling in her ear, but she makes the final decision to hit the button or slap the cover back on. You better believe that the producers of the show want that point to be very clear, to forestall lawsuits. I wonder, after 8 years of watching the Bush and Cheney puppet show, whether anything's clear anymore. Our government is broken. A broken presidency won't fix it.
Do we actually want Bill Clinton to be our de facto president? I won't even go there.
Even with all my resevations about Billary Clinton, I still haven't decided, or voted. Like Pesky Fly, I keep hoping Barack Obama will "win me". On charisma and looks, he already has. On objective points, no so much. At zero minus two days, it's looking like my choices are:
Faith, or Edwards.

Hillary is her own person and a very wise, experienced, smart and vetted one too. If Barack were a woman, he wouldn't be even on the national horizon. As a relatively inexperienced, attractive and young politician, she would not be considered. So why is HE? Bill Clinton has his problem but thanks to the Republicans the whole world knows about it. But he is also a very smart and world-wide respected negotiator. She and we can deal with it.
There would be the same grumbling about how Bill has too big a part for being the spouse of the president... much like it was when Bill was president. But so what? People grumble about things all the time, and I'm sure Hillary will make her own decisions.
As for chain of command confusion, let's talk about Bush/Cheney. Things are far worse on the chain of command front now than it was during the Clinton administration.
I, too, am undecided, and have mixed feelings about both Obama and Clinton.
I saw this video earlier today. Is there any doubt Obama was made in an underground marketing lab on Madison Avenue?
Call me old fashioned, but I can remember when I was able to recognize a BS market plan from a slick politician. While I don't like Huckabee, I can see he is a truly talented (slick) politician, just like Bill Clinton. Obama really isn't that good. He got beat up by Meredith Vieira on the Today show. It was down right Liebermanesque in how bad his performance was. It wasn't even that hard of a question. Everytime I see something like this video about Obama, I keep thinking of the Singing in the Rain. Obama is Lina Lamont. He ain't Kathy Selden. Behind all the choreography, Oprah, and various forms of media Obamania, he is a Chicago politician whose claim to fame was a staged speech at a convention and ethics reform. I said it once and I'll say it again, politicians that champion ethics reform and not much else are politicians that have nothing to say.
What makes Obama a risky candidate in the general election is his ties to Rezko in Chicago. Why is this so important? Because it would puncture the heart of his strength as a candidate. "He is a different kind of candidate above partisanship and shady ethics. He doesn't take money from bad guys and special interests." Well that's all bullshit, because he did do those things and to make matters worse Obama refuses to do an interview or come clean about his relationship with Rezko. I know this is the republicans' line of attack because not a single republican has said a word about it yet. They are going to drill him so hard on this it will look like when Zidane headbutted that Italian guy in the World Cup. You don't attack a person's weakness, They expect that. You attack their strength and Rezko is a kryptonite bullit to Obama's Superman candidacy. Ask John Kerry if this true.
Also, watch that video again. Ask yourself, shouldn't we all take political advice from pretty 20 something folks.
When did political ads become Calvin Klien commercials.
Feeling manipulated yet?
Here is some smelling salts- Obama doesn't support UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE! Obama is the Mercedes Benz of manufactured political bullshit.
I also supported Edwards, but now I support Obama. Forget Edwards! He's out of it, and he was gong nowhere despite our support. Your choice now is between Hillary Clinton (who continues to LIE about her vote on Iraq, and who has just said she will GARNISH wages for her health plan) or Barack Obama. Obama isn't perfect, but he does inspire people more than he turns them off (Clinton has just the opposite problem) and he is our best chance of beating John McCain.
Your choices are: Obama Vs. Hillary
Obama Vs. John McCain or Hillary Vs. John Mccain
Choose Wisely..
I don't know why, but it just doesn't sit well with me to have this Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton thing. I'm certain that Bill would be involved, likely more than any other "first spouse" ever before, but it's not even than that bugs me. My logic may be off, but it just seems icky to keep it all in two families for so doggon long.
